ITS

The Institute for Transport Studies (ITS Leeds) is the focus for the transport research interests of all departments of the University of Leeds. The Institute's aim is to advance the understanding of transport systems throughout the world, by teaching and research activities which develop the necessary skills and best practice in the planning, design, operation, and use of transport systems. ITS Leeds secured a 5* rating, the highest rank, in the most recent UK Research Assessment Exercise. The research of ITS Leeds is carried out in collaboration with industry and local authorities as well as other departments in the University. External sponsorship accounts for over three-quarters of the Institute's income. A significant component of this is research funded by the European Commission, both in Transport and in Telematics. ITS Leeds has participated in some 34 projects in the Fourth Framework.

FAV FAV Berlin - Forschungs- und Anwendungsverbund Verkehrssystemtechnik (Berlin, Germany).
FAV is the Berlin Transport Technology System Network - a public private partnership organisation founded in 1997 as manager of a network of about 80 research institutes and 400 companies concerned with transport technology. The central assignment of FAV is the promotion and the co-ordination of complex research, development and demonstration projects - on regional and national as well as on international level. FAV maintains a strategic alliance with partner organisations in different European countries aiming at quick, flexible and adequate formation of international consortia for European projects in transport technology. In addition to management tasks FAV also carry out research according to the qualification profiles of its staff, e.g. in the field of transport economy. They are currently participating in several 5th framework projects.


ISIS ISIS - Istituto di Studi per l'Integrazione dei Sistemi (Rome, Italy).
ISIS, Istituto di Studi per l'Integrazione dei Sistemi, is an Italian private research and consulting firm, active since 1971 at the national and international levels in the areas of information and decision support systems, mathematical modelling, and operational research. ISIS' methodology and tools are applicable to the entire range of sectors and economic activities in which planning and policy design represent aspects of strategic importance.
ISIS has participated in and/or coordinated several transport RTD projects with FP4, in the strategic urban and intermodal sectors. They have accrued particular expertise in the areas of energy, environment, transport, and local finance. More recently, ISIS has extended its range of activities to the areas of quality of services and the production of specialized software for the purposes of quality control of public services. In addition, ISIS has established a network of alliances currently active in European nations. This network is the result of years of participation to international projects which have been carried out under combined efforts and agreements. ISIS is equipped with information resources in line with the most up-to-date, modern technologies, and has always demonstrated proactive support of interactive and user-friendly software tool.


TNO TNO Inro - Nederlandse Organisatie voor Toegepast Natuurwetenschappelijk Onderzoek (Netherlands).
Inro is one of the 14 Institutes of TNO, Netherlands Organization for Applied Scientific Research (4500 employees), which is a leading independent research organization in The Netherlands. TNO Inro has the following departments: Transport, Traffic, Logistics, Economics, Planning. The Institute employs 80 people, most of them academics who represent a variety of disciplines; it institute plays a leading and independent role in studies on transport and transport policy. The institute has a close relationship with the Dutch Ministry of Transport as well as other authorities and the scientific community.
